BENGALURU: The suicide note written by the suspect in the Vyalikaval woman’s brutal murder has revealed some chilling details. Mukti Ranjan Roy had killed Mahalakshmi, a colleague, chopped her body into 59 pieces and stacked them in the refrigerator in her house.

After committing the murder, he had fled to Odisha and before the Bengaluru police could apprehend him, Mukti Ranjan Roy committed suicide by hanging near his house. The suicide note written in his diary reveals that he killed Mahalakshmi on September 3, which was her day off, over some personal disputes.

Mukti Ranjan Roy claimed that he and Mahalakshmi had got into an argument when he went to her house and that she even assaulted him. Angered by this, he killed her, chopped the body into 59 pieces and stacked them in her refrigerator. He first suffocated her and cut her body into pieces in the bathroom with a hacksaw. He later cleaned the bathroom with acid to remove evidence.

Mukti Ranjan and Mahalakshmi got into a relationship about 7-8 months ago and she was pressuring him to marry her, the suicide note revealed. She would apparently get upset if any of the other women spoke to Ranjan and would warn them not to do so. Ranjan was not keen on marrying Mahalakshmi and this had led to disputes between them, police suspect.

Mukti Ranjan was a manager at the garment store where Mahalakshmi was working. After committing the murder, he had fled from Bengaluru and his phone too was switched off from September 3. The police went on his trail after going through the call detail records.

A team of the Bengaluru police is at Mukti Ranjan Roy’s house in Bhunipur village of Bhadrak district of Odisha under Dusuri police limits where they are collecting his fingerprints and a copy of the suicide noted.
