CHIKKAMAGALUR: Villagers staged a snap protest at the Linglapura toll plaza in Kadur taluk on Monday opposing the collection of toll before the completion of the National Highway-206 project. They said they had given up their land for the road and demanded to know why they had to pay toll.

Vehicles were stranded at the toll plaza for some time.

The protesters argued that the authorities build a service road for their use and questioned why they had to pay a toll in their own village. “Build a service road and we won’t use the highway”, they said.

The police had a tough time convincing the villagers.

The villagers complained that they were being forced to pay toll even to go to their farm lands. They even threatened to block the highway if toll is collected from them. The Kadur police had a tough time convincing the villagers.
