CHIKKAMAGALUR: Villagers of Somanahalli in Kadur taluk took to the streets to crack down on the sale of illicit liquor. Frustrated with the rampant sale of cheap, second-quality liquor in their village, the residents raided houses and shops, seizing and pouring out the contraband.
The village had been plagued by the sale of low-quality liquor, with young and old alike falling prey to its ill effects. The villagers, fed up with the situation, decided to take matters into their own hands, conducting raids and handing over those involved to the Singatagere police.
