VIJAYAPURA: Three youths died on the spot and another in hospital after the car they were travelling in hit a roadside culvert on the road connecting Basavana Bagewadi and Ingaleshwara on July 8. Two other occupants, who were in the rear seat of the car, survived the accident.
A video of the car crashing into the culvert, which was shot by one of the occupants from inside the car is now doing the rounds on social media.
While Mallu Dolagonda (32), Parashu Minajigi (26) died on the spot, Revannasidda Shekanni (27) died in hospital. All hailed from Ingaleshwara and were returning to the village from Basavana Bagewadi around 10.30 pm on July 8 when the accident occurred.
It is suspected that the youths were drunk and from the video recorded on Mallu’s phone from inside the car, a song on drunkards can be heard playing in the car. After the car hits the culvert, the video goes blank and, after a little while, one of the youths can be heard moaning in pain while another tries to wake him up.
The Basavanabagewadi police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
