BENGALURU: Veteran Sandalwood producer K C N Mohan passed away at the age of 62 at Manipal Hospital on Sunday following kidney failure. He had been suffering from kidney problems for a long time and died on Sunday morning without responding to treatment.
K C N Mohan had produced many hit movies including ‘Jayasimha’, ‘Bhale Chatura’, Ramya starrer ‘Julie’, ‘Hoomale’, ‘Alimayya’, ‘Acharya’, ‘Police Power’, ‘Cinema’ and several other films. He took charge of Anupam Movies after the death of his father and producer K C N Gowda. K C N Mohan supported the Kannada film industry by investing in many movies and was also the owner of the popular Navarang Theatre at Rajajinagar in Bengaluru.
A few years ago, Mohan’s wife and his brother Chandrasekhar had passed away. Mohan is survived by two daughters. He had been ill for a long time and was undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital, but died of kidney failure. Film stalwarts and relatives expressed condolences on his demise.
K C N Mohan is the creator of hit films as ‘Kasturi Nivasa’, ‘Bhakta Siriyala’, ‘Ranga Nayaki’, ‘Sanadi Appanna’, ‘Satya Harishchandra’, ‘Babruvahana’, which were produced under his production banner.
With Mohan’s demise, it is the end of an era for the production company which has a history of 50 years. The reputed production company in Sandalwood introduced big budget films in the Kannada film industry, by producing Dr Rajkumar films. A few years ago, the legendary film ‘Kasturi Nivasa’ was re-released by producer K C N Mohan with a modern touch.
