BENGALURU: Veteran actor, director and producer in the Kannada film industry, Dwarakish, passed away this morning at the age of 81 due to an age-old illness. Dwarkish’s death was confirmed to the media by his son Yogish.
Bungle Shama Rao Dwarakanath was more popularly known as Dwarakish in the Kannada cinema industry. He was given the name Dwarakish by Kannada film maker C V Shivashankar.
Dwarakish was born on August 19 August 1942. His movie career started at the age of 21 with ‘Veera Sankalpa’ which released in 1963. He had produced 47 movies under his banner.
Dwarakish shared the screen with legendary actors including the late actors Dr Rajkumar, Ambareesh, Shankar Nag and Vishnuvardhan, and was known for his comic roles. He acted in 300 movies.
Actor Dwarakish also acted in lead roles in many films, but is best known for his comedy. His films include ‘Jedara Bale’, ‘Manku Dinne’, ‘Maduve Madi Nodu’, ‘Bhakta Kumbara’ and many others. Dwarakish produced ‘Apthamitra’, starring Vishnuvardhan, in 2004 and received huge success.
