BENGALURU: Those driving vehicles without number plates in the city better get their act together. The police plan to file FIRs under Section 420 (cheating) against the vehicle owners and legal action action initiated while the vehicle will also be seized.

The Bengaluru police have taken this strict action as some miscreants involved in criminal activities have developed a habit of driving vehicles without number plates or with tampered number plates to evade arrest. To curb this, the police have decided to take stringent measures.

In the Western Division alone, over 40 cases have been registered against vehicle owners under the cheating section. The police have registered cases against over 100 vehicle owners and seized around 1,000 vehicles in a single night across the city.

The police have registered cases of cheating against the vehicle owners and they will have to go to court to get their seized vehicles released. While the rest of the bike riders did not give a valid reason, the city police have registered a fraud case against bikes without number plates and those with defaced number plates. The police will file chargesheets against the vehicle owners and they will have to face legal proceedings.
