BENGALURU: The tech city is ranked the second most congested city in the world and it is a nightmare for motorists driving on city roads. Amid this, the vehicle count has crossed one crore in Bengaluru.
Bengaluru is growing day by day and the population is also increasing. Along with this, the number of vehicles has also crossed one crore. New vehicle registrations have increased as there are festivals in the months of September, October and November. Bengalureans bought a large number of vehicles ahead of Dasara and Deepavali festivals.
Though there are Metro trains and BMTC buses for public transport, people depend more on private vehicles. Due to the increase in the use of private vehicles, the number of vehicles has crossed one crore.
In 2012-13, the number of vehicles in Bengaluru was 55.2 lakh, but now it has doubled to 1.1 crore as of September 30 thisĀ year. In all, more than 58,000 vehicles of various types have been registered in the month of September, taking the total number of vehicles in the city to 1,12,54,430 as of September 30.
Namma Metro has 74 km of route in Bengaluru, and more than 7 lakh passengers rely on Metro every day. In addition, more than 43 lakh passengers travel on the BMTC every day. Yet, the number of people buying private vehicles has been steadily increasing.
