Veggie prices hit the roof after cyclone

BENGALURU: Cyclone Fengal not only affected normal life of people, it has also had a significant impact on vegetable prices in Karnataka.

The cyclone has resulted in reduced yields in many areas including Kolar, Ramanagara, Chikkaballapur and Bengaluru Rural. As a result, the prices of most vegetables have skyrocketed.

– Onion: Rs 550-600 per kg
– Tomato: Rs 60-70 per kg
– Garlic: Rs 70-80 per kg
– Drumsticks: Rs 500 per kg
– Peas: Rs 180-200 per kg
– Potatoes- Rs 35-40 per kg
– Beans: Rs 180-200 per kg
– Carrot: Rs 60-80 per kg
– Capsicum (Green): Rs 50 per kg
– Capsicum (Yellow/Red): Rs 150-180 per kg
– Beetroot: Rs 60 per kg
– Cabbage: Rs 40-50 per kg

The reduced yields and shortage of supply have led to a significant increase in vegetable prices, affecting consumers.
