DEHRADUN (Uttarkhand): Two men allegedly involved in a shooting in Raipur area of Dehradun were arrested by Uttarakhand police after an encounter on the Haridwar Roorkee highway on Wednesday.
The accused identified as Manish Kumar Singh and Yogesh were arrested by a special team of the Dehradun Police, SSP Dehradun Ajay Singh said.
The arrested duo are both residents of Uttar Pradesh, the Senior police official said.
“The special team of Dehradun police, which was searching for the criminals in the Raipur murder case of Dehradun, had an encounter with the criminals when they chased and stopped them on the Haridwar Roorkee highway. Dehradun and Haridwar police cordoned off the highway and the surrounding areas based on information,” the SSP said.
The accused got injured in the encounter after which they were hospitalised. The condition of both of them is stable, said officials.
As per the Uttarakhand CMO, property dealer Ravi Badola was shot dead by miscreants near Dobhal Chowk in the Raipur area of Dehradun on Sunday. Two of Ravi’s associates were also injured in the shooting incident.
As soon as the incident came to light, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the DGP to take strict action in the matter. The police have arrested the main miscreant in an encounter on Tuesday.
A total of five miscreants have been arrested in connection with the incident, the Uttarakhand CMO said on Tuesday. The main accused Rambir was taken into custody after a brief encounter from the Talwar village police station Beharol Sadar district Kotputli Rajasthan, 400 km away on Tuesday. Three more persons have been arrested in connection with the case.
Pramendra Singh Dobal, SSP Haridwar said, ” Property dealer Ravi Badola was shot dead by miscreants. Dehradun Police were investigating the matter…we got information that the main accused Yogesh and Manish…Alwar Police conducted checking everywhere…they tried to fire at Police and escape, both were injured in the encounter. Their treatment is going on…we have seized weapon and live cartridge from them”
A total of five miscreants have been arrested in the incident, police said.
Chief Minister Dhami said that there is no place for miscreants in Devbhoomi. Police have been instructed to take strict action in the matter. Along with this, the illegal property, business of the miscreants and those having links with the miscreants are being investigated. (ANI)
