Upset over housewife living content life, jilted lover kills her

DAVANAGERE: A man murdered a 25-year-old houswife by stabbing her multiple times with a knife, as he was upset over that she got married to someone else, at Duggamma Devi fair at Duggavati village in Vijayanagara district on Monday.

The police have identified deceased as Pratibha Nagaraj. The accused Mukappanavar Hanumant (27), a resident of Chirastahalli near Duggavati, has been arrested.

According to the preliminary investigation, police sources said Hanumant fell in love with Pratibha and he used to call her his lover. But Pratibha got married Nagaraj, a resident of Ranebennur. He was upset after seeing that she was leading a happy life and hence, killed her. Pratibha has a small child.

Pratibha had come to her aunt’s house to attend the Duggamma Devi temple fair and was to return to her hometown that day. But, Hanumant stabbed her and she died on the way to a hospital in Harihar.

A case has been registered at Halavagalu police station.
