KOPPAL: Upa Lokayukta Justice B Veerappa paid a surprise visit to the Koppal bus stand on Wednesday and was appalled by the prevailing conditions and the lack of basic facilities like parking, toilets and clean drinking water. The Upa Lokayukta is on a three-day tour of the district.
He interacted with students who complained about the overcharging of toilet facilities. He instructed the authorities to rectify the issue and ensure that no extra charges are levied. During the visit, a student approached him and shared his dream of joining the army. Justice Veerappa appreciated the student’s ambition and advised him to work hard towards his goal.
The Upa Lokayukta also visited the Koppal District Hospital and was shocked by the poor conditions. He inspected the accident and emergency ward, checked the facilities, and interacted with patients. He instructed the authorities to provide better facilities, including pillows and clean beds. He came across a person who had attempted to consume poison due to marital issues and advised the individual to seek counselling and support.
Veerappa also inspected the taluk office and corporation office. He found irregularities in the collection of caste income certificates and instructed the authorities to refund the excess amount collected. Justice Veerappa also checked the PhonePe history of a person and found discrepancies. He instructed the authorities to take action against those responsible.
