BENGALURU: Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy, who has been treated heart ailment, was rushed to Apollo Hospital after he started bleeding in the nose on Sunday evening. Kumaraswamy was taking blood thinners on the doctor’s prescription as he has heart issues.

Doctors at Apollo Hospital are examining him and the blood thinners to see if there are any changes in them. Blood thinners are given to people with heart artery problems to prevent blood clots and thickening of blood on doctor’s advice to prevent heart attacks and strokes.

Blood thinners prevent blood clots from forming or growing larger. They are often prescribed to people with heart conditions such as atrial fibrillation or those who have had a heart attack or stroke. However, they can also increase the risk of bleeding, so it’s important to take them only as directed by a doctor. Taking blood thinners without doctor’s advice can lead to bleeding and other side effects.
