MYSURU: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Union Home minister Amit Shah arrived in Mysuru early on Sunday with a strategic action plan and he was expected to meet alliance party leaders in the city.
It was being speculated that former CM H D Kumaraswamy, now an alliance partner, will bring up the issue of seat-sharing in the seats dominated by his party, the JD(S). It would not be any surprise if both meet each other. Whether Kumaraswamy will rolls out the political dice before Amit Shah by claiming a share of the Lok Sabha polls during the latter’s visit to Mysuru has raised curiosity among the political circles.
Amit Shah conducted a constituency-wise survey of all 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state and will collect the information with an eye on winning all the 28 constituencies seats. Opinions will also be collected about which constituency should be left for JD(S).
The JD(S) has already given the list of 5-6 constituencies to the BJP high command. In this list, Mandya, Chikkaballapur, Hassan, Kolar, Tumkur, Bangalore Rural, Bengaluru North constituencies have been mentioned. Shah is likely to get a report on the BJP-JD(S) alignment in 7 constituencies. Only after that, there is a possibility of talks regarding seat sharing.
Home Minister Amit Shah had come to participate in Suttur Math programme in Mysuru. He will strategise for the Karnataka Lok Sabha constituencies. In particular, he will conduct a study of Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya and Hassan constituencies in Old Mysore region. With this visit, he has sent a strong message to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that Mysuru is his first target.
Amit Shah, who arrived at Mysore airport at 2:40 am on Sunday, was received warmly welcome by District Collector Dr Rajendra on behalf of the district administration. BJP state president B Y Vijayendra, Mysore-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, MLA Srivatsa, former MLA Nagendra, Harshvardhan, City Police Commissioner Ramesh, Superintendent of Police Seema Latkar and others were present.
