CHIKKABALLAPUR: An unidentified woman was allegedly raped and murdered at Honnenahalli, near the National Highway on Tuesday.
A villager who had gone to harvest fodder for cattle noticed a half-naked woman lying in the field and her face and head were smashed with stones. Locals then informed the police about the incident.
A case has been registered at the Chikkaballapura Rural police station.The police visited the spot and sent the body to the Chikkaballapur District Hospital for post-mortem examination. They are trying to establish the identity of the deceased woman.
“On Tuesday morning, we found an unidentified woman’s body near Honnenahalli village. We visited the spot and on examination, we saw that her head was smashed with a stone. We are trying to identify the woman and the motive behind the murder. We are waiting for the post-mortem report”, said Chikkaballapur SP D L Nagesh.
“I had come to harvest some fodder for cattle when I found a half-naked woman dead with her head and face smashed. I called the Chikkaballapur police, who visited the spot. Later, the body was shifted to the district hospital”, said Chandrappa, a villager.
