Unidentified miscreants cut off udders of three cows in Chamarajpet

BENGALURU: Unidentified miscreants cut off the udders of three cows that were lying on the road at Vinayak Nagar in Chamarajpet, on Saturday night. Blood could be seen all along the road and the injured animals were shifted to a veterinary hospital where they are currently undergoing treatment.

More than 20 police personnel arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. Activists from Hindu organisations also visited the site. They have alleged that the police are not curbing the consumption of drugs and ganja in this area and condemned the heinous act.

Locals alleged that drug abuse and ganja consumption are rampant in the area, but the police have failed to take action. Bengaluru Central MP P C Mohan also visited the site and reprimanded the police.

Mohan criticised the Congress government, stating that law and order has collapsed in the state. The Cottonpet police inspector and Chickpet sub-division ACP were present during the night rounds on Saturday.

According to the owner of the cows, she has no enmity with anyone in the locality. There was a plan to shift the veterinary hospital from Chamarajpet to Hebbal six months ago. But locals protested in front of the hospital along with the cows, demanding not to shift the hospital. “Now, miscreants have cut the udders of the same cows. Dairy is our only income and I believe that the protest led to this incident”, the owner of the cows said.
