KALABURAGI: An inmate of the Kalaburagi central jail died after he fell from a tree when he had gone to retrieve a ball, on Wednesday.
A few inmates of the jail were playing cricket when the ball got lodged in a tree. Sangamesh Kumbar (25) climbed the tree to fetch the ball, but fell when he was climbing down. He was immediately shifted to the government hospital, but he died.
Sangamesh hailed from Chowdapura village in Azfalpur taluk. He was arrested in a ganja peddling case and was lodged in the jail for the last 18 months.
The Faratabad police have registered a case.
