BENGALURU: Unaided schools in Karnataka have decided to observe Kannada Rajyotsava on November 1 as a black day due to government’s alleged continued neglect towards them.
Since 1995, unaided Kannada schools and colleges have not received government grants, leading to the closure of many institutions. The decision to protest was called by the Unaided Schools and Colleges Management Association.
The association has been fighting for 25 years to provide facilities at schools, but the government has not been bothering with their demands, the association said. As a result, schools coming under it will hoist black flags on Kannada Rajyotsava, to mark their protest for survival, it added.
