Unaccounted cash and a car were seized at Zion Hills Golf County in Kolar.

KOLAR: The police have seized over Rs 4 crore in cash belonging to Congress candidate S N Narayanaswamy from a villa at Zion Hills Golf County on Thursday night. The villa belongs to one Ramesh Yadav.

“Unaccounted cash of Rs 4,04,94,500 seized from a house and a car in Zion Hills by the police under the direct supervision of Superintendent of Police Dr Dharani Devi. It is believed that the money was kept allegedly to distribute among voters”, police said.

The Bangarpet police have seized cash amounting to Rs 4,04,94,500 and a car and registered cases against villa owner Ramesh Yadav, who has been named as the main accused, and Narayanaswamy, the second accused. Further investigation is under way, the police added.

On April 14, the Bengaluru police caught two men with Rs 1 crore in unaccounted cash in an autorickshaw near the city market. The duo were identified as Suresh and Praveen. When the police asked the duo to produce the documents related to the cash they, failed to do so. “Both didn’t have any documents related to money,” police said.

Similarly, on April 6, a total of Rs 50 lakh in unaccounted cash was seized during from a car at Dundur checkpost in Gadag district. Due to the upcoming Assembly elections in the state, Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is in place and moving a large sum of cash without proper documents is not permitted.
