Udupi police register suo motu case against VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell for provocative remarks

The police booked the case against the VHP leader for spreading false information.

UDUPI: The Udupi Town police have registered a suo motu case against Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) leader Sharan Pumpwell for an alleged provocative speech in connection with a cow slaughter incident.

The severed head of a cow was found at Kunjalu in Brahmavar taluk a few days ago and the police had arrested a few Hindu men in connection with the incident. However, Sharan Pumpwell had expressed doubts that the Muslim community may be involved in the incident.

The police have booked Sharan Pumpwell for making unsubstantiated claims even before the completion of the investigation and for alleged attempts to disturb public peace.
