Udupi police apprehend seven Bangladeshis for illegal stay

UDUPI: The police arrested seven Bangladeshi nationals who had been illegally residing in Malpe for the past three years. The arrested nationals are Hakim Ali, Sujon, Ismail, Karim, Salam, Rajikul, and Mohammad Sojib.

They had obtained employment as fishermen and were apprehended near the Vadabhandeshwara bus stand in Malpe. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused Usman brought them here and made arrangements for a job.

Among the accused is Kajol from Sikkim’s Agartala, who created the fake Aadhaar cards. One of them, Manik Hussain, was caught by immigration officers while using a fake passport while attempting to fly to Dubai from Mangaluru International Airport.

Further inquiry led to the arrest of six more Bangladeshi nationals who had illegally entered the country. At this time, it came to light that they had obtained fake Aadhaar cards and passports. The airport officials immediately informed the Bajpe police about him. After his arrest, the police got information that more Bangladeshi nationals had infiltrated into the country with him. The police are investigating the matter.

Udupi Superintendent of Police Dr Arun Kumar said that seven Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in Malpe for illegal residency. “The individuals had fake documents, including Aadhaar cards and passports. One person, Mohammed Manik, was caught at Mangaluru International Airport trying to fly to Dubai with a fake passport”, he said.

The police investigation revealed that the group had been living in Malpe for three years. “They are currently in custody, and a report will be submitted to the court soon. Investigation is under way. A case has been registered at Malpe police station”, the SP said.
