BENGALURU: Two people died of electrocution near the fire station at Electronics City during the Karaga festival procession early on Sunday. The deceased youths have been identified as Yarandahalli Haribabu (25) of Jigani and Ranganath (30) of Veerasandra.
The Karaga Utsav was held on Saturday night at Gollahalli near Hebbagodi. The incident occurred when the palanquins were returning to the temple after the festival this morning.
The youths lifted a power line along the procession route with a wooden stick as was blockung the way of the palanquin which was being carried on a tractor. As it has rained, the stick was wet and the youths were electrocuted died on the spot.
The tractor too caught fire and the firemen extinguished the fire immediately.
