Two-year-old toddler who fell into borewell at Indi village successfully rescued

Satwik was rescued from the borewell after a 16-hour operation.

VIJAYAPURA: Two-year-old Satwik Mujagonda, who had falled 12 feet into a borewell on his father’s farm land at Lachyan village in Indi taluk on Wednesday, was successfully rescued after a 16-hour operation on Thursday. The child was examined by doctors present at the spot and immediately shifted to the Indi taluk hospital in an ambulance.

Satwik, the son of Satish Mujagonda and Pooja Mujagonda, was playing on their four-acre farm when he accidentally fell into the uncovered borewell. The district administration launched a rescue operation on Wednesday evening with the Fire and Emergency Services personnel and the SDRF. A 10-member team of the NDRF from Hyderabad joined the rescue later, hastening the effort.

The boy was located with the help of a camera and the rescuers used excavator to dig around the borewell to bring him out. The rescuers could see the child shaking his leg through the camera which confirmed that he was alive. Meanwhile, the parents of the boy and other villagers offered prayers at the Siddappa Maharaj Gadduge in the village for his safe rescue.

A medical team and ambulance was also kept ready at the site. Indi legislator Yashwanthrayagouda also visited the spot and inquired about the progress of the rescue effort.
