Two-year-old child dead, 3 others injured after speeding bus crashes into bakery at Haveri bus stand

HAVERI: A speeding bus crashed into a bakery at the Haveri bus stand, injuring three people, including a two-year-old child on Wednesday. The boy later succumbed to the injuries at a hospitali in Hubballi.

The bus was travelling from Haveri to Lakshmeshwar when it suddenly swerved on to the platform and hit the bakery after the driver lost control. The bus hit people who were waiting to board or checking the bus route board.

The victims include Hazrat Ali (2 years old), son of a resident of Savanur, who suffered serious injuries and was shifted to KIMS, Hubballi for treatment; and Vasudev (44), Harsha (6), Kavyanjali (39), all residents of Bankapur town. The driver fled the scene, leaving the injured to fend for themselves.

The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. The incident has sparked outrage among the victims’ families, who are demanding action against the driver.
