Two who mocked speech and hearing impaired for publicity arrest by Bengaluru police

BENGALURU: Two people, including a radio jockey, have been arrested by the cyber police for mocking speech and hearing impaired people in by making obscene gestures in sign language for publicity.

The accused are identified as Rohan Kariyappa and Sharavana Bhattacharya. Rohan Kariyappa, who worked as a radio jockey, had made a video in Hindi to mock politicians, while Sharavana is an employee with a private firm and knows sign language.

They were making jokes about educated young politicians and mocked them in sign language. Their video had gone viral, and several organizations had filed complaints in Delhi. Later, when it was found that the accused were from Bengaluru, a complaint was filed with the Commissioner, and a case was registered at the  Cyber Crime Branch.

The accused had deleted the video and posted an apology video on social media, but it was too late as the damage had already been done.
