MADIKERI, BELAGAVI, RAMANAGARA: Three teenagers drowned while another was found dead in separate cases across the state on Monday. The bodies of two were were found while a search was on for the other two.
Ayyappa (18) from near Cherambane and Girish (16) of Aivakotlu had gone with their friends to the Cauvery river near Emmemadu Kuruli for a swim. They drowned in the river after their boat capsized. The body of one of the youths was found while a search was on for the other. The incident occurred in Napoklu police limits
Manohar Kumar Talwar (15) who had gone fishing in the Ghataprabha river near Konnur in Gokak taluk in Belagavi district, was reported missing on Monday. The Gokak Rural police and the Fire and Emergency Services personnel were conducting a search and rescue operation
In another incident, a minor girl, aged about 14 and belonging to the Hakki Pikki tribe, who was reported missing on Sunday night, was found dead near a railway track near the Hakki Pikki Colony at Bhadrapura in Bidadi hobli.
The girl was said to be mute and police suspect that she was murdered and her body dumped near the railway track. An iron pipe used to strike the girl on the head was found near the body. The Railway Police from Bengaluru visited the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination.
