BENGALURU: Two PUC students have gone missing from Vidyaranyapura, leaving behind their mobile phones and belongings. The girls, Tanishka (2nd PUC) and Tejaswini (1st PUC), who were supposed to appear for the exams, might have run away to avoid writing the exams, and have left the police and family members puzzled.
The incident has thrown up a challenge for the police, who have been searching for the girls for over a month without any leads. The girls had left their mobiles, ATM cards and other belongings at home, taking only their Aadhaar cards and college bags. They were last seen on January 31, and their family members have been searching for them ever since.
The police suspect that the girls might have run away due to exam fear, as they had done the previous year as well. The girls had reportedly called their friends a few days ago, saying they were at Male Mahadeshwara Hills, and promised to return in a week. However, they haven’t been in touch with anyone since then.
The police have searched over 50 locations, but have found no sign of the girls. Interestingly, they had travelled on an identity card-based free bus pass, but so far, there’s no information about their whereabouts.
The family has approached the High Court with a habeas corpus petition, seeking the girls’ safe return. The court has given a one-week deadline for the police to locate the girls. The family is anxious and distraught, appealing for help in tracing the missing students.
