Two people detained after mixer-grinder explosion in Hassan

HASSAN: Two people, including a woman, were detained after a man was seriously injured in a mixer-grinder explosion at a courier shop at Kuvempunagar Layout in Hassan on Tuesday.

The Forensic Science Laboratory team, bomb disposal squad and SP Prakash Gowda of the Internal Security Division inspected the courier shop after the mixer-grinder exploded. In the preliminary investigation, it has been revealed that the plan was a plot against a woman.

Doctors said the injured person, Shashi, had surgery and is out of danger. He is receiving treatment at a hospital in the city.

 

“The Forensic Science Laboratory team and the Bomb Squad have inspected the spot. Experts came to collect evidence for investigation. Locals are anxious after the incident. The mixer-grinder blast is not linked to any terrorist activity or terrorist groups. The explosion was a personal revenge and the consignee was the target. The explosive techniques used are not those used in terrorism. They have used explosive devices in the mixer-grinder”, said Hariram Shankar, District Superintendent of Police.

“This is completely for personal reasons. We are interrogating two people, including a woman. After the delivery, a woman returned the package. More information will be known after the victim records his statement. We have taken down old parcel details during the investigation. Further investigation is under way. Shashi opened the package and plugged it in when the explosion occurred”, he added.
