YADGIR: Two people died on the spot after a motorcycle collided head-on with a car near Madriki village in Shahpur taluk on Friday. The deceased were identified as Halleppa (45) and Mallaiah (35).
The duo had gone to their farm land at Chikkamuduvala village in Jewargi taluk and were returning home when the accident occurred. It is said that the car crashed into the motorcycle while trying to overtake another vehicle.
The car too had overturned and the driver had fled the scene. The bodies of the deceased were shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination. The Bheemarayanagudi police visited the spot and have registered a case.
