Two police constables suspended for extorting money from public.

BENGALURU: Close on the heels of two night beat police personnel being suspended for allegedly taking money from a couple who were walking home near Manyata Tech Park, two more police constables have suspended for allegedly extorting money from another couple after threatening them.

The suspended constables are Aravind and Malappa Valikar of Adugodi police station.

Chaitra Ratnakar and Chiras were smoking near Nexus Mall in Koramanagala when the two policemen approached them and asked for money. The policemen even threatened to register an FIR against them. The duo then paid up Rs 4,000 through PhonePe with the help of a tea stall owner.

After the incident, Chaitra Ratnakar tweeted tagging DG&IGP Praveen Sood and narrating about the incident.

South East Division DCP C K Baba has suspended the two constables after preliminary investigation confirmed that the policemen had threatened and looted money.  He has asked the Madivala ACP to conduct a departmental inquiry and submit a report.
