Two more die due to heart attack in Hassan district in a day

HASSAN: A 21-year-old youth and a 55-year-old woman were among the latest casualties due to heart attack in Hassan district. The deceased were identified as Madan and B N Vimala. In little over a month, the district has recorded 35 deaths due to heart attacks.

Madan, who hailed from Chitnahalli in Hassan taluk, was living with his mother in Channapatna and had gone to his brother-in-law’s house at Chikkakondagula two days ago. On Thursday, he experience pain in the chest, informed his brother-in-law Chandan on the phone and set out on a motorcycle.

By the time he reached Tamlapura Circle, he had suffered a heart attack and died. Chandan, who arrived there, shifted Madan to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Chandan said Madan had not returned home for three days and they suspected that he had developed chest pain due to acidity as he had been consuming alcohol and not eating meals.

On Friday, District Health Officer Dr Anil Kumar visited the house to inquire about the cause of death and tried to convince the family to hand over Madan’s body for post-mortem examination. However, the family refused and said they would go ahead with the last rites.

At Dasarakoppalu locality in Hassan city, B N Vimala, a housewife, suffered a heart attack and died at home on Thursday. When she developed chest pain, she informed her husband Thotadagadde Kumar who tended to her.

Later, while having her meals, Vimala complained of severe pain in the chest and back following which her husband called for an ambulance. However, Vimala had died and the ambulance staff, who arrived there, confirmed the death.
