CHAMARAJANAGAR: Two leopard cubs were found in a banana plantation at Padagur village in Gundlupet taluk. The cubs, estimated to be around three months old, were safely rescued by farmer Shivakumar, and kept in his farmhouse.
The Forest Department was informed and officials are working to capture the mother leopard, who is likely to be nearby. A cage has been set up to trap the mother leopard, and efforts are on to reunite her with the cubs.
If the mother leopard is not captured, the cubs will be shifted to the Koorgalli rehabilitation centre in Mysuru, pending further instructions from senior officials.
Meanwhile, a tiger’s pug marks has been spotted in Changadi village, located at the edge of the Male Mahadeshwara Hills forest in Hanur taluk. The villagers are anxious, fearing for their safety and have urged the authorities to provide protection as they are concerned about the potential threat to their lives.
Until now, leopards were occasionally spotted in the area, but this is the first time a tiger’s footprint has been seen. Locals have captured the footprint on their mobile phones, and a video of it has gone viral on social media.
