BENGALURU: Two lecturers and a friend from a reputed college in Moodabidri have been arrested by the Marathahalli police for allegedly raping a student. The victim, a former student of the college, had filed a complaint with the Women’s Commission.

The arrested accused are lecturers Narendra and Sandeep, and their friend Anoop.

The physics lecturer, Narendra, had initially befriended the student and said that he would give notes and help. He had contact with the student even after she came to Bengaluru. He gradually built a good rapport with her and eventually took her to his friend’s room in Marathahalli, Bengaluru, where he allegedly raped her. He threatened her not to reveal the incident to anyone.

Later, the biology lecturer, Sandeep, who had learned about Narendra’s actions, contacted the student and blackmailed her, threatening to reveal photos and videos of her with Narendra. Sandeep took her to Anup’s room, where he too allegedly raped her. Anoop also threatened her, saying that he had CCTV footage of her visiting his room, and then raped her as well.

The student, unable to bear the harassment, eventually confided in her parents, who took her to the Women’s Commission. After counselling, a complaint was filed with the police.

The student had completed her studies in Moodabidri and was pursuing engineering in Ramanagara. The lecturers had been contacting her through Instagram and chatting with her.
