BENGALURU: Two individuals, including a suspended Bengaluru Rural police constable, have been arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police for extorting money from Bangladeshi nationals in Bengaluru.

The arrested accused are Prashant Navi and Nasir Khan. Prashant, who was previously suspended and transferred due to dereliction of duty while working in the Internal Security division, allegedly teamed up with a private individual named Nazeer Khan to target and extort money from Bangladeshi nationals working as ragpickers in the city.

The accused would threaten the Bangladeshi nationals with arrest and even kidnap some of them, demanding money in exchange for their release. Following a complaint from the Rajya Jana Sadhbavana Sanghatane, the CCB police arrested both Prashant and Nazeer Khan.
