Two held for hijacking truck, stealing branded watches worth Rs 57 lakh

BENGALURU: The city police have arrested two people for hijacking a truck which was carrying watches of different brands, on Monday. The accused have been identified as Zameer Ahmed (28) and Syed Shahid (26).

During the night on January 15, an Ashok Leyland goods vehicle touched a bike near Jawaregowda Nagar in RR Nagar. The motorcycle riders followed the truck and attacked John and Bisal Kisan, who were in the truck. They took the truck with them and then left the empty truck at the same place where they had taken it from.

A case was registered at the RR Nagar police station. During investigation, it was found that the watches belonged to a logistics company named Jai Deep Enterprises that delivers products booked on Flipkart. The police arrested the accused and have seized two bikes, the truck and 1,282 watches worth Rs 57 lakh.

“On January 15, the logistics company was shifting watches worth Rs 57 lakh from one warehouse to another. In the meantime, 5-6 people stopped the vehicle and took the truck with them. Through technical evidence and witnesses, we got to know about the incident. The truck had hit a vehicle and two people on the two-wheeler chased the vehicle, stopped it and hijacked the truck. It is a road rage case and the accused left the vehicle in the same place”, said Sandeep Patil, Additional Commissioner of Police, West, Bengaluru City Police.
