Two fraudsters arrested for giving 2 kg fake gold coins in lieu of Rs 25 lakh

HAVERI: The Shiggaon police have arrested two people who cheated a man by convincing him that they would give him 2 kg of gold for Rs 25 lakh.

According to the police, the accused first gave two gold coins, got the money and then gave fake gold coins. The arrested accused have been identified as Karan and Praveen.

The accused convinced Bengaluru-based Lakshman Chennabasaiah that they would give him gold coins for Rs 25 lakh. They first gave him two gold coins and then got money from him. Once they got money, the accused gave 2 kg of fake-coated gold coins.

The accused called Lakshman near Holalu village in Harapanahalli to give him gold coins. Later, it was tested and found to be fake coated coins.
