DAVANAGERE: Two people lost their lives while trying to save a youth who was drowning in a canal of the Bhadra river ner Kurki village in Davanagere taluk on Friday. The deceased were identified as K Ramakrishna (34) and Himesh (21).
Ramakrishna was a resident of Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh and was visiting his in-laws at Hadadi village in Davanagere taluk. Ramakrishna and his nephew Himesh jumped into the canal to rescue another youth, but both lost their lives.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel, along with the police and locals, fished out both bodies from the canal. The Hadagi police have registered a case.
