Two dead, five injured in separate accidents in Mandya district

MANDYA: Two people died while five others sustained injuries in separate accidents in the district on Saturday.

A truck driver and his assistant died after their truck rammed into another truck which was ahead of them, on the outskirts of Mandya on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway in the wee hours on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Syed Mandal and Sirajuddin. The driver cabin of the second truck was completely crushed in the accident. Both trucks were on their way towards Mysuru from Bengaluru when the accident occurred. The Mandya Central police have registered a case.

In another incident, five people travelling in a car sustained injuries after it crashed into an oncoming private bus near Palahalli on the Srirangapatna-KRS road. Due to the collision, both the car and the bus had overturned.

The bus was carrying schoolchildren who had been on a picnic to Kodagu and was returning to Bengaluru. All the children are safe. The car was on its way towards KRS when it crashed into the bus while trying to overtake another vehicle. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Mysuru by locals.
