RAICHUR: Two people died and 18 were injured in separate accidents in the district on Thursday. The injured are being treated at different hospitals.
A collision between a bus and a tractor left a woman dead, while 18 other labourers suffered injuries near Bannigol village in Lingasugur taluk. The deceased was identified as Sridevi. The injured include the bus driver and some passengers and also the labourers who were travelling in the tractor.
The labourers were on their way to Bannigol for work when the bus, coming from the opposite direction, collided with the tractor. While the tractor overturned, the bus entered a field by the roadside. The injured were shifted to the Lingasugur taluk hospital and the Mudagal police have registered a case.
In another accident, a car and a lorry collided head-on near Bommanala Cross in Manvi taluk, leaving one person dead. The deceased was identified as Venkatachalapathy (45), a senior assistant with Gescom at Gangavathi.
Venkatachalapathi was on his way from Raichur to Gangavathi when the accident occurred. The car was completely crushed in the accident. The Manvi police, who visited the spot, have registered a case.
