Two-day old baby elephant reunited with mother by Forest officials

HASSAN: In a heartwarming incident, the Forest officials have reunited a two-day-old abandoned baby elephant with its mother at Baikere village in Sakleshpur taluk.

A video of the baby elephant being reunited with its mother has now went viral on social media. The Forest Department officials are also getting huge appreciation from the public for their concern and humanity.

 

Recently, a herd of 40-45 wild elephants camped near Baikere village and one of the elephants gave birth on a farmland two days ago. However, the herd left behind the calf as it could not move, and headed into the forest. The Forest Department officials rescued the calf and examined it for 45 minutes to confirm whether it was rejected by the elephant herd.

Then, they released the the close to where the herd had camped. Immediately, the cow elephant came along with  a male tusker named Bhima, but took a while to recognise its baby. Later, they took the calf with them.
