CHIKKABALLAPUR: Six people had a miraculous escape after two cars were washed away and got stuck in a drain on the Bengaluru-Hyderabad highway near Nagarjuna College in Beedagaanahalli in the taluk during the heavy rain on Monday night.

A lake beside the highway was overflowing due to the continuous rain. The two cars were moving on the service road when they were swept away. Luckily, six people who were in the cars escaped. Previously, a motorcycle rider had been swept away in the drain and he too survived.

Muniraju, the owners of one of the cars and a resident of Huralagurki, told Public TV, “The flow of water suddenly increased when we were returning from a hospital and the car was swept away. A goods vehicle spotted us and handed us a rope with which we managed to fasten the car so that it is not washed away. About half an hour later, three youngsters in another car were washed away into the water. They managed to escape after opening the boot”.
