A burqa was found near a railway track.

UDUPI: Two burqa-clad women attempted to kidnap a baby from a house, but fled after stabbing the mother, at Belapu village in Kaup taluk on Saturday. During a search, the police found a burqa near a railway track in Belapu.

Two women approached the house of Mohammed Ali at Janata Colony in Belapu on the pretext of using the bathroom. One of the women entered the house and attempted to snatch a baby which was in a cradle.

However, when the baby’s mother Tabreez prevented the woman from snatching the baby, she stabbed Tabreez and fled from the house. The police and sniffer dogs launched a search and a burqa was found near a railway track. The Shirva police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
