Two arrested, 300 litres of illegal liquor seized at MM Hills

The police are on the lookout for three more people in the case.

CHAMARAJANAGAR: Despite being declared a no-alcohol zone by none other than the chief minister himself, sale of illegal alcohol continues unabated at Male Mahadeshwara (MM) Hills in Hanur taluk. On Saturday, the police arrested two people and seized 300 litres of illegal liquor from them.

Siddappa (42) and Muthuraj (40) of Varsha Koudahalli village were selling liquor illegally by the side of the Salur Math Road when the MM Hills police nabbed them. Three other, Chandru of Koudahalli village, Rajappa, the owner of Niharika Bar in Hanur, and Nagaraju managed to flee.

The MM Hills police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the three others. Meanwhile, devotees visiting MM Hills have demanded the district authorities to strictly enforce the alcohol ban at the pilgrim centre.
