CHIKKABALLAPUR: Two engineering students who had turned to theft by breaking into houses for show-off, were arrested by Chikkaballapur police. The arrested are Chetan and Abhishek. They are studying aerospace engineering at a prestigious engineering college in Bengaluru.
Chetan is a resident of Chamarajapete in Chikkaballapur town while Abhishek is originally from Mandya district. Since they were studying in the same college, they became friends. Both had a habit of showing off in college, but they had no money so they planned to rob houses near Chetan’s house in Chikkaballapura.
They broke into the houses of a teacher, Vinutha, and Shanthamma in Chamarajapet, stole cash and gold jewellery worth lakhs of rupees, and enjoyed themselves.
Chetan and Abhishek first broke into Vinutha’s house and stole gold jewellery worth about Rs 6,25,000. They then broke into Shanthamma’s house in the same area and stole Rs 85,000 in cash along with gold jewellery. However, the Chikkaballapur police have now arrested them and sent them to jail.
