HASSAN: A massive elephant was found dead, lying in a pool of blood about two feet from an electricity pole, near Sullakki-Shantapura in Sakleshpur taluk on Saturday.
The lone tusker, aged about 18-20 years, is suspected to have died due to electrocution, gunshot wound or may have been hit by a speeding vehicle.
The Forest Department officials, along with the power utility personnel, visited the spot. Viscera samples have been sent for autopsy and further investigation is under way.
