The tusker held up traffic for nearly half an hour on the road.

CHIKKAMAGALUR: A wild elephant blocked a KSRTC bus on the Charmadi Ghat road for about half and hour and later walked away, on Wednesday night. The incident occurred between the 7th and 8th curves and left passengers petrified.

The bus driver immediately stopped the vehicle on spotting the tusker. This led to a traffic jam of about 2 km on both sides of the road. After about half an hour, the elephant slowly entered into the forest, clearing the way.

The tusker has been spotted on several occasion along Charmadi Ghat over the last two months. It had also entered villages at the foot of the ghats in Mudigere taluk. Local residents have been requesting the Forest Department to relocate the elephant before any major damage occurs.
