TUMAKURU: Deputy Superintendent of Police P Srinivas was in the eye of a storm after he slapped an aspirant for the police constable’s post just outside the venue where Home Minister Araga Jnanendra was participating in a function on Tuesday.
About 400 aspirants for the police constable’s posts from North Karnataka had gathered near the Tumkur Government Junior College to meet the minister and to request him to relax the age limit. They tried to meet the minister, but were stopped outside the venue by the police.
During the heated argument between the job aspirants and the police, Deputy SP Srinivas slapped one of them for allegedly recording a video.
After much debate, two representatives from the group of aspirants were allowed to meet the minister. They even fell at his feet crying, but Jnanendra seemed to have got upset and told them off not to indulge in drama. He also told them that due process will be followed in the recruitment process.
