TUMAKURU: The Koratagere police have arrested three people in connection with the murder of a woman last week. The body had been chopped into 19 pieces and dumped at different places.
Some villagers were shocked after they spotted a stray dog carrying away a human hand in its mouth and informed the police. A search in the area revealed chopped body parts and the head was found two days later.
Among the arrested include the deceased Lakshmidevamma’s son-in-law Dr Ramachandra, a dentist. He, along with his friends Satish and Kiran, had carried out the murder at Satish’s farm house at Kolala village.
After committing the murder, Dr Ramachandra had gone to Dharmasthala. Police suspicion arose as he was not present when the murder came to light. He admitted to the murder during questioning. It is alleged that Lakshmidevamma was pushing her daughter into prostitution and Ramachandra was fed up of it.
Police Superintendent Ashok Kumar, addressing a press conference, said the accused had chopped the victim into 19 pieces, put them in plastic covers and dumped them. “Dr Ramachandra was unhappy with his mother-in-law as she was not looking after him well and planned the murder along with his friends. Villagers had also spotted the movement of their car and it was also captured on CCTV cameras. Based on the car registration, we traced the accused”, he said.
