Truck driver washed away in Kushavathi river rescued by locals

The truck driver was swept away while crossing a flooded road.

CHIKKABALLAPUR: In a dramatic rescue, a truck driver was pulled to safety after being swept away by the Kushavathi river, which was overflowing due to heavy rain, on Thursday night. The incident occurred near Hosahudya village in Chelur taluk.

Vijay, the truck driver from Pedduru Gundlahalli village, was driving a truck that got stuck in the floodwaters after it broke down. He was swept away while trying to inspect the problem, but managed to grab a tree branch and survive.

Local residents from Hosahudya village rushed to his rescue using an excavator and pulled him and his truck to safety. The area has been experiencing heavy rainfall, causing the Kushavathi river to overflow.

In another incident, a motorcycle rider died while the pillion rider sustained serious injuries after the rider lost control and crashed near Kuppahalli Cross in Chikkaballapur taluk on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Narahari while the pillion rider was admitted to a private hospital. The Nandi Giridhama police visited the spot and registered a case.
