BENGALURU: In more trouble for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, a special court for elected representatives on Wednesday ordered the Lokayukta police in Mysuru to investigate the alleged MUDA scam. The court was hearing a private complaint regarding grant of 14 residential sites to the CM’s wife Parvathi in lieu of acquired agricultural land in Kesare, Mysuru.

This comes a day after the High Court of Karnataka rejected the CM’s plea challenging the governor’s sanction for prosecution in the alleged MUDA site allotment case. On Wednesday, Laxmi Ayengar, the lawyer for the complainant Snehamayi Krishna, presented the high court order copy before the special court judge and sought an order today itself.

The complainant’s lawyer urged the court to seek a report on the investigation in 45 days, but the court initially granted six months. After the lawyer intervened, the court gave the Lokayukta police three months time. Two complaints have already been filed with the Lokayukta police in Mysuru by Snehamayi Krishna and and FIR against CM Siddaramaiah and other is likely to be registered today itself.

Advocate Vasant Kumar, representing petitioner activist Snehamayi Krishna told reporters, “FIR will have to be registered as per the order. Mysuru Lokayukta jurisdiction will register an FIR and do the investigation. The Chief Minister must resign so the Lokayukta can investigate transparently”.

Advocate Laxmi Ayengar, another lawyer representing Snehamayi Krishna, expressed happiness over the Special Court order. “Extremely happy about the order. Now we have to wait for the Lokayukta to get going on the investigation, waiting for them to register FIR and get started…

“The court has ordered the Lokayukta, if they do their duty fairly, I don’t think there would be any necessity on our part to seek for a transfer. But if the Lokayukta does not act and it doesn’t seem fair, then we would definitely move the court seeking for a transfer investigation. But at this time, no”, she told reporters.
